Just a few months ago this year今年 就在几个月前a very well respected and well-known business executives in Silicon Valley硅谷一位很受尊敬的知名商业经理人invited me to give a speech to his club on social media邀请我到他的社交媒体俱乐部发表演讲Ive been to this club a few months before when I几个月之前 我去过这家俱乐部have been invited for a friends birthday一位朋友过生日邀我去的It was a beautiful building and I was wandering around建筑很漂亮 我在里面游荡looking at it, looking for the womens room欣赏它 找女卫生间201409/331908Thats exactly what we are doing. For more than a year, America has led a coalition of more than 60 countries to cut off ISILs financing, disrupt their plots, stop the flow of terrorist fighters, and stamp out their vicious ideology. With nearly 10,000 air strikes, we are taking out their leadership, their oil, their training camps, and their weapons. We are training, arming, and supporting forces who are steadily reclaiming territory in Iraq and Syria. If this Congress is serious about winning this war, and wants to send a message to our troops and the world, authorize the use of military force against ISIL.Take a vote. But the American people should know that with or without Congressional action, ISIL will learn the same lessons as terrorists before them. If you doubt Americas commitment or mine to see that justice is done, ask Osama bin Laden. Ask the leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, who was taken out last year, or the perpetrator of the Benghazi attacks, who sits in a prison cell. When you come after Americans, we go after you. It may take time, but we have long memories, and our reach has no limits. Our foreign policy has to be focused on the threat from ISIL and al Qaeda, but it cant stop there. For even without ISIL, even without al Qaeda, instability will continue for decades in many parts of the world in the Middle East, in Afghanistan and Pakistan, in parts of Central America, Africa and Asia. Some of these places may become safe havens for new terrorist networks; others will fall victim to ethnic conflict, or famine, feeding the next wave of refugees. 201602/427132But its a long program,so some watched part of it, like the Prime Minister. Some watched a little bit more. It says, I havent used my bed for five days. And hes 82 years old, and he hardly slept. He kept watching because something might happen, though it probably wont. This is the number of viewers along the route. You can see the famous Trollfjord and a day after, all-time high for NRK2. If you see the four biggest channels in Norway during June 2011,they will look like this, and as a TV producer, its a pleasure to put Hurtigruten on top of it. 3.2 million Norwegians watched part of this program, and we are only five million here.320万挪威人看了这个节目,而且我们这只有500多万人口。Even the passengers on board the Hurtigruten coastal ship they chose to watched the telly instead of turning 90 degrees and watching out the window. So we were allowed to be part of peoples living room with this strange TV program, with music, nature, people. And Slow TV was now a buzzword, and we started looking for other things we could make Slow TV about. So we could either take something long and make it a topic, like with the railway and the Hurtigruten,or we could take a topic and make it long. This is the last project. Its the peep show. Its 14 hours of birdwatching on a TV screen, actually 87 days on the web. We have made 18 hours of live salmon fishing. It actually took three hours before we got the first fish, and thats quite slow. We have made 12 hours of boat ride into the beautiful Telemark Canal, and we have made another train ride with the northern railway, and because this we couldnt do live, we did it in four seasons just to give the viewer another experience on the way. So our next project got us some attention outside Norway. This is from the Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Stephen Colbert: Ive got my eye on a wildly popular program from Norway Stephen Colbert:我最近在关注一个超级火爆,挪威出品,called National Firewood Night, which consisted of mostly people in parkas chatting and chopping in the woods, and then eight hours of a fire burning in a fireplace. It destroyed the other top Norwegian shows, like So You Think You Can Watch Paint Dry and The Amazing Glacier Race. And get this, almost 20 percent of the Norwegian population tuned in,20 percent. So, when wood fire and wood chopping can be that interesting, why not knitting? So on our next project,we used more than eight hours to go live from a sheep to a sweater, and Jimmy Kimmel in the A show, A he liked that. Even the people on the show are falling asleep, and after all that, the knitters actually failed to break the world record. 201506/382362Hi, everybody. This week, we made it official – Im going to Cuba. When Michelle and I go to Havana next month, it will be the first visit of a U.S. president to Cuba in nearly 90 years. And it builds on the decision I made more than a year ago to begin a new chapter in our relationship with the people of Cuba. You see, I believe that the best way to advance American interests and values, and the best way to help the Cuban people improve their lives, is through engagement – by normalizing relations between our governments and increasing the contacts between our peoples. Ive always said that change wont come to Cuba overnight. But as Cuba opens up, it will mean more opportunity and resources for ordinary Cubans. And were starting to see some progress. Today, the American flag flies over our embassy in Havana, and our diplomats are interacting more broadly with the Cuban people. More Americans are visiting Cuba than at any time in the last 50 years – Cuban-American families; American students, teachers, humanitarian volunteers, faith communities – all forging new ties and friendships that are bringing our countries closer. And when direct flights and ferries resume, even more of our citizens will have the chance to travel and work together and know each other. American companies are starting to do business in Cuba, helping to nurture private enterprise and giving Cuban entrepreneurs new opportunities. With new Wi-Fi hotspots, more Cubans are starting to go online and get information from the outside world. In both our countries, theres overwhelming support for this new relationship. And in Cuba today, for the first time in a half century, there is hope for a different future, especially among Cubas young people who have such extraordinary talent and potential just waiting to be unleashed. My visit will be an opportunity to keep moving forward. Ill meet with President Castro to discuss how we can continue normalizing relations, including making it easier to trade and easier for Cubans to access the Internet and start their own businesses. As I did when I met President Castro last year, Ill speak candidly about our serious differences with the Cuban government, including on democracy and human rights. Ill reaffirm that the ed States will continue to stand up for universal values like freedom of speech and assembly and religion. Ill meet with members of Cubas civil society – courageous men and women who give voice to the aspirations of the Cuban people. Ill meet with Cuban entrepreneurs to learn how we can help them start new ventures. And Ill speak directly to the Cuban people about the values we share and how I believe we can be partners as they work for the future they want. Were still in the early days of our new relationship with the Cuban people. This transformation will take time. But Im focused on the future, and Im confident that my visit will advance the goals that guide us – promoting American interests and values and a better future for the Cuban people, a future of more freedom and more opportunity. Thanks, everybody. And to the people of Cuba – nos vemos en La Habana.201602/428188

The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are, ever after, secure in your ability to survive. You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift, for all that it is painfully won, and it has been worth more to me than any qualification I ever earned. Given a Time Turner, I would tell my 21-year-old self that personal happiness lies in knowing that life is not a checklist of acquisition or achievement. Your qualifications, your CV, are not your life, though you will meet many people of my age and older who confuse the two. Life is difficult, and complicated, and beyond anyones total control and the humility to know that will enable you to survive its vicissitudes. You might think that I chose my second theme, the importance of imagination, because of the part it played in rebuilding my life, but that is not wholly so. Though I will defend the value of bedtime stories to my last gasp, I have learned to value imagination in a much broader sense. Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared. 201401/274287

Hi, everybody. Today, our economy is growing and our businesses are consistently generating new jobs. But decades-long trends still threaten the middle class. While those at the top are doing better than ever, too many Americans are working harder than ever, but feel like they cant get ahead. Thats why the budget I sent Congress earlier this year is built on the idea of opportunity for all. It will grow the middle class and shrink the deficits weve aly cut in half since I took office. Its an opportunity agenda with four goals. Number one is creating more good jobs that pay good wages. Number two is training more Americans with the skills to fill those jobs. Number three is guaranteeing every child access to a great education. And number four is making work pay-with wages you can live on, savings you can retire on, and health care thats there for you when you need it. This week, the Republicans in Congress put forward a very different budget. And it does just the opposite: it shrinks opportunity and makes it harder for Americans who work hard to get ahead. The Republican budget begins by handing out massive tax cuts to households making more than million a year. Then, to keep from blowing a hole in the deficit, theyd have to raise taxes on middle-class families with kids. Next, their budget forces deep cuts to investments that help our economy create jobs, like education and scientific research. Now, they wont tell you where these cuts will fall. But compared to my budget, if they cut everything evenly, then within a few years, about 170,000 kids will be cut from early education programs. About 200,000 new mothers and kids will be cut off from programs to help them get healthy food. Schools across the country will lose funding that supports 21,000 special education teachers. And if they want to make smaller cuts to one of these areas, that means larger cuts in others. Unsurprisingly, the Republican budget also tries to repeal the Affordable Care Act-even though that would take away health coverage from the more than seven million Americans whove done the responsible thing and signed up to buy health insurance. And for good measure, their budget guts the rules we put in place to protect the middle class from another financial crisis like the one weve had to fight so hard to recover from. Policies that benefit a fortunate few while making it harder for working Americans to succeed are not what we need right now. Our economy doesnt grow best from the top-down; it grows best from the middle-out. Thats what my opportunity agenda does-and its what Ill keep fighting for. Thanks. And have a great weekend. 201404/285994
