Feifei and Finn chat about a party they went to last night. Finn had a very good-looking woman with him and everybody was curious. Was she his girlfriend? Listen to the programme to find out. Note: This is not a word-for-word transcript. Feifei: Hello. Im Feifei and with me in the studio is... Feifei: Hey, do you feel a bit tired, Finn? Well, I do. What a party yesterday! Finn: Yes, it was good, wasnt it? Great food, plenty to drink… 美食、美酒……Feifei: Now… forgive me for being nosey but…you said you were too busy working to have a love life. So… who was that beautiful woman you were with? Finn: Ah, that was … just a girl I know… 只是我认识的一个女孩……Feifei: Come on, Finn, dont be so mysterious. Everybody was looking at her. She looked like a supermodel! Is it serious? No offence, but how did you manage to attract a woman like that? Finn: What do you mean? Im very handsome! But shes not my girlfriend… 不过她并不是我女朋友……Feifei: Just some eye candy, then? Finn: Thats not fair. I mean, yes shes beautiful — but eye candy means someone who is attractive, but not very interesting… Feifei: I know — just teasing! It sounds like you like her… 听起来你喜欢她……Finn: Err, OK then, I do quite like her…芬恩:好吧,我承认我的确很喜欢她……Feifei: Ooh, you admitted it! Finn: I know…芬恩:我知道……Feifei: We can also use eye candy to talk about things which look good but are not very useful. Lets hear some examples. I was going out with this gorgeous footballer but it didnt last. He was just eye candy. This illustrated cookbook looks good but you can never find the ingredients for the recipes. These pictures are just eye candy! Feifei: Well, the party was fun anyway. And you know what? Today Im going on a date with a guy I met there. Finn: Mmm… is this the beginning of a romance, Feifei? Feifei: Oh, no. Hes very boring, actually. Finn: Just some eye candy then? Feifei: Well… well see. But I want to make all my friends jealous! Both: Bye!

Sarah: So Peter, I hear that you love to . What types of books do you like to ? Peter: I like to, I especially like to fantasy and science fiction books. I love all kinds of ing but I guess one of my favorite books come from that genre so I really, yeah, I really love that kind of book. Sarah: So, whats your favorite fantasy genre book? Peter: I think if I had to choose it would be The Lord of the Ring series. I it, I think I it back in high school and it was one of the most gripping, interesting, fascinating stories Ive ever . And I know its fiction and its an imagined world but I think at that time that book was really meaningful to me because it gave me kind of an escape and I could be busy with this book for weeks and weeks on end and I actually ended up re-ing the book twice or three times I think because I just fell in love with the characters and stories of adventure and fun and making friends and going through hardships together. And so it was a really meaningful book for me at the time and then when the movies came out, of course I went to see them but somehow it never, although it came close, it kind of never matched up to what I had going in my imagination and I think because the book was so imaginative, Ive kind of fallen in love with ing science fiction and books about possibilities of how life could be or imaginative lives of people. Yeah, thats ... I think thats why I really love that book. Sarah: Oh, its very interesting. Peter: Yeah. How about you, do you fiction or science fiction or anything fiction related? Sarah: Not really, I tend to like non-fiction books. Peter: Oh, okay. Do you have any favorites from the non-fiction range of books? Sarah: One that Ive recently, well I like ing non-fiction because I like to things that I can learn something from so I love to books on culture and religion and different things. Peter: Okay. Sarah: And one of the books I recently that I really liked was called Spirit of the Rainforest and its about a tribe out in the Amazon and it was told from their perspective and as like foreigners came in, different anthropologists and their opinion and their views of them and their culture. Peter: Right. Sarah: Its really interesting. Peter: Wow, it sounds fascinating. Sarah: Yeah. Peter: Ive heard that there are tribes that still remain undiscovered in the Amazon and, well, people know about them but they dont disturb them. Was this one of those examples or do you think its something... 这是其中一个例吗,还是你认为……Sarah: I think so, yeah. There were a few examples of people, you know, that had come in to sort of study them but they always seemed to leave, nobody seemed to stick around. Peter: Right. What was the most interesting part from it for you? Sarah: Oh, that would be really difficult to say. I cant think of anything specific at the moment. Peter: Okay. Sarah: Yeah. Peter: Sounds great. 译文属 /201703/496687重庆总医院官网 Todd: OK, Mark, youve travelled quite a bit. Mark: I have, yeah. Todd: And youve actually done a lot of unique things that people dont do when they travel. You were saying that when you travel you like to look at prisons. Mark: Thats right. I have a strange fascination with prisons when I go traveling. Todd: Is it your conscience? Do you feel guilty that you should be in prison? Mark: Not really, no but I dont know why but the history of prisons is fantastic. For example, obviously the most famous ones Alcatraz. Todd: Right. Mark: You go there. Now you can take an audio tour. Have you ever taken that? Todd: You know, Im from San Francisco and Ive never been to Alcatraz. Mark: Ah, its fantastic. It was one of the best places I visited in America. It was Alcatraz prison. And you can take the audio tour and listen about all the ex-convicts. What they did and what daily life was like in Alcatraz. Really, good. Todd: Wow, well, Im going home in a few days and Im gonna go to Alcatraz. Mark: You should do. You should do it. And another prison that I visited thats very famous was Robben Island just off the coast of Cape Town in South Africa, and thats where Nelson Mandela spent most of his days. Todd: No kidding. Robben Island. Mark: Robben Island. Yeah. Todd: Do they still have his room made up? Mark: They do. They have his room all still made up, and you can lots of leaflets about Nelson Mandela and then they take you, show you the work yard, and basically he was spending, I think was twelve hours per day working outside in the South African heat. Todd: Thats insane. Mark: You can see all around the prison yard. Thats really interesting. Todd: So youve seen the prisons in South Africa and in America. Mark: Also I went to a crazy prison in Kuala Lumpur in the center on Malaysia. Todd: Oh, yeah. Mark: Yeah. As you arrive at the airport, if you take the monorail from the station into central Kuala Lumpur, then you see the old prison. Its now closed, but outside the prison, on the walls, its got lots of graffiti and basically the government has written the graffiti and it basically tells you do not smuggle drugs into Malaysia or you will be staying here for a long time, and the prison looks like the worst building youve ever seen in your life. Todd: Wow!托德:哇!Mark: Yeah, and also it warns you about the death penalty, if you smuggle drugs into Malaysia, youll receive the death penalty. Todd: Man, thats... well, thats tough. Mark: Yeah. I think I got this fascination for prisons because near my house in England there used to be a big prison that looked like an old castle, old scary castle and I used to pass that sometimes when I was going to work when I was younger, so thats why I have this strange interest in prisons. Todd: Cool.
